Can I get a default removed from my report?

Defaults remain on your credit report for six years from the default date (the date the lender decides that you have broken the terms of the agreement).

This date is recorded on the defaulted account entry on your credit report.  After six years, the entry is automatically removed from your credit report with no action required by you.
